Get our confiscated properties back and deliver Program & services to the most vulnerable youth in our communities

April 5, 2010

Dear friends of the YMCA of Ethiopia, Greetings to you all from Addis Abeba. I wish you and your loved ones a pleasant Easter. We are in a very critical moment in the rebirth and development of our YMCA in Ethiopia. We need to think differently and out side the box to strengthen our movement, get our confiscated properties back and deliver the much needed services to the needy and most vulnerable youth in our communities. If we stand together, we can make a difference. YES, WE CAN!!! With best regards,

Berhanu Tadesse (Dr)

President, Executive board of the YMCA of Ethiopia

Ethiopia YMCA Shown as the Pioneer in Ethiopian Sport In the beginning of this Millennium Documentary

January 14, 2008

Ethiopia YMCA Shown as the Pioneer in Ethiopian Sport In the beginning of this Millennium Documentary you see clips from the Ethiopian YMCA. I am a living witness because I am the instructor that is shown training boxing, trampoline, tumbling etc. in the first part. I vote for the Arat-Kilo YMCA where the event took place to be returned to the Ethiopian YMCA, its rightful owner, from the usage as the "Sport Central Facility" by the Government. YMCA Arat Kilo

August 1, 2007

Since its inception in 1947, the Central YMCA has had a life marked by both remarkable progress and formidable challenges. Unfortunately, these bright beginnings were abruptly interrupted by the outbreak of the Ethiopian Revolution in 1974. YMCA Ethiopia became one of the many casualties of that process. On August 30, 1976, the Derg dissolved the Association for no good reason.... [More]
